Vision Impaired Pedestrians also get access to the same information as the sighted pedestrians via the audible feature which produces distinguished sounds for "WALK" and "DON'T WALK" cycles.

Technical Details

There are three audible tones which automatically and instantaneously increase or decrease depending on the ambient noise level.

The locating tone (Don’t Walk) 

1000Hz ±50Hz with a repetition rate of 0.55Hz ± 0.05Hz

The transition tone (Walk)

Starts with a burst at 3500Hz ± 500Hz and then decreases exponentially to 700Hz ± 100Hz

The crossing tone (Walk) 

500Hz ± 25Hz and the repetition rate is 8.5Hz ± 0.5Hz.
